Where to Shop in the Denver Area for Small Business Saturday

This weekend, forego battling crowds at big-box stores on Black Friday for a day of shopping on #SmallBusinessSaturday. Not only will your neighborhood businesses appreciate your hard-earned dollars so much more, but shopping local helps boost the economy and ensures that the best of the Denver metro’s businesses can flourish for years to come. Not sure where to go for the best deals and discounts from local businesses? We’ve got it covered, so here’s to smart spending and gift-giving!

DENVER

Downtown

Head to SBS on Larimer Square for discounts at more than 15 of its businesses, including AILLEA, an eco-conscious cosmetic store (with a second location in Cherry Creek North); clothing boutique Hailee Grace; the Crimson Room (bonus: they’ll give you a complimentary glass of sparkling wine); and pet boutique Dog Savvy. Note: The Denver Pavilions parking garage at 500 16thStreet will also offer freeparking on SBS.

RiNo

The Small Business Saturday Art Market, hosted by Bigsby's Folly, RiNo Art District, and RiNo Made (a local gift shop), will have 12 local artists and their unique creations on-site, as well as a “RiNo Santa” for the little ones.

12 to 5 pm; 3563 Wazee Street

Not able to make it? The RiNo Holiday BAZAAR the weekend of December 7 to 9 will provide another opportunity for you to #ShopLocal: there will be 100 hand-picked local craft, fashion, and food vendors, as well as local breweries, cideries and mead booths onsite.

South Broadway

Broadway Holidays will include many South Broadway stalwarts—such as Decade, Fancy Tiger Crafts, and Starlet—and help promote Hope Slinger’s Guide (sponsored by Hope Tank and Meow Wolf), a directory of businesses owned by women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community.

Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek North’s Small Business Saturday is perhaps Denver’s biggest SBS hub, as more than two-thirds of the area’s storefronts fit the small business profile. It’s also Denver’s best holiday window-shopping destination; to see the best of Cherry Creek, peruse the area on foot and pop into storefronts that catch your eye.

City Park West/Uptown

Small Biz Saturday Indie Pop-Up is a hyper-local shopping experience put on by the Denver Bicycle Café. It features dozens of makers and vendors, including jewelry by Beads and Bones, apparel from Denver Fashion Truck, and all-natural healing goods from Fawn Berry Apothecary. Plus: On-site food trucks abound.

Noon to 8pm; 1308 E 17th Avenue

THE ‘BURBS

Aurora

The Small Wonder Pop-Up at Aurora’s happenin’ Stanley Marketplace is sure to be a hit, with arts and crafts created by local artists, as well as products from many of Stanley’s vendors (and all under $200).

9am to 8pm, 2501 Dallas Street

The Mad Beehive is hosting a market featuring 35 vendors with arts, crafts, and holiday-specific items from shops like Back in Love Boutique, Peggy Clark Jewelry Designs, and 3 Peas In a Pod. Check its Facebook page for updates.

10am to 4pm; The Summit Event Center at 411 Sable Boulevard

Arvada     

The first 100 shoppers of Olde Town Arvada’s Small Business Saturday Kick-Off will get a free cup of joe from Hunter Bay Coffee Roasters and a complimentary burrito from School House Kitchen and Libations just for showing up (though you may be asked to pony up your info for a prize giveaway). Stroll around the area to look for deals and enjoy the area’s boutiques, outdoor retail, and restaurants.

Golden

Toast to shopping local on Saturday morning at Golden’s Visitors Center (10am to noon), where you’ll find a something warm and yummy to drink, plus a “Shop Small” tote bag to prep you for your day of bargain hunting. The town’s plentiful shopping—which span five areas, downtown, north, south, central and Inter Plaza—is sure to have myriad deals.

Englewood

Broadway Brew Supply is putting on their own SBS celebration featuring breakfast by Flippin' Flapjack (yay, pancakes!), beer and wine pairings, plus deals at nearby shops (which range from pet stores to crafts and restaurants). Check the event’s Facebook page for details on sales.
