If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Give, Don’t Give Anything at All!
We all have that friend or relative who notoriously gives out terrible holiday gifts. This year, don’t be that person. When in doubt, just give/send money. If you insist on purchasing a gift, try to avoid these top ten terrible gift ideas.
Ugly sweaters – I know, “ugly sweater” Christmas parties are the in-thing right now, but no one actually wants to get an ugly sweater during what should be the most wonderful time of the year.
Surprise pets – Yes, they're adorable but it's not a good idea to buy anyone a surprise pet, or for that matter, anything that will end up costing them more money in the long run.
Anything “made with love” – Awe, grandma, you shouldn’t have. No, really… You shouldn’t have! Take it from us, it’s not always the ‘thought that counts’.
Cookbook – Nothing says “I love your cooking” like a book full of new recipes and different meal options.
Re-gifts – If you didn’t like it the first time, chances are, they won’t like it the second. Do everyone a favor and toss that plant you don’t intend to water or that gift basket you don’t intend to open.
Tickets - Don’t buy anyone a pair of tickets to a concert or play that you have been dying to see yourself, especially when the obvious choice is to take you as their ‘date’.
Gift cards - to stores or restaurants you’re not sure they necessarily like. When in doubt, purchase a bank card, rather than one associated with a specific store or restaurant.
Booze- If liquor is your go-to gift, consider giving wine instead.
Hoverboards – Although some would say this is they tech-craze of the year, recent reports indicate major Hoverboard malfunctions, like catching on fire.
Handerpants – We’re not even quite sure what these are but do yourself a favor and save the $12, and don’t buy these Handerpants for anyone on your list.
Disagree with any of these? It’s your turn to weigh in! What’s the worst holiday gift you have ever received? Comments and photos are welcome below.
