TripAdvisors’ Unique Hotels In Colorado listing includes some pretty nice (and pricey) places to spend a night or two, but there are other, cheaper, Colorado hotels with charm that didn't quite make the list.
#1- Best Western's Movie Manor Motor Inn, Monte Vista
Best Western’s Movie Manor Motor Inn, Monte Vista leads our list. It has a unique "drive-in" movie component, which lets you watch a drive-in-style movie right from your room. Open the drapes and you'll find the motel's public movie screen, which allows you to dial your in-room speakers to enjoy the film from the comfort of your own room.
#2- Baldpate Inn, Estes Park
At nearly 100 years old, the Baldpate Inn, Estes Park, offers a uniquely historic experience. Located next to Rocky Mountain National Park, the Inn has a storied "key collection", and is said to be as haunted as the nearby Stanley Hotel. Of course, the hauntings may just be former guests looking for the key to their room that they dropped while hiking earlier in the century.
#3 - Quality Inn & Suites, Canon City
Through several rebrands in recent years the Quality Inn & Suites in Canon City is on every "cinema-phile’s" bucket list. When "True Grit," "How the West Was Won," "Cat Ballou," and, "Comes a Horseman" were filming, the casts and crews stayed at this Canon City hotel. Door plates list the actors who used the rooms, and guests have the option to stay in rooms formerly occupied by legendary stars like John Wayne, James Arness, and Goldie Hawn.
#4 - Best Western Sundowner, Sterling
On the Overland Trail, Sterling’s Best Western Sundowner is a smaller, tidy hotel. While it isn't exactly lavish, the quaint nature of the hotel gives you everything you need without blowing the budget. During the fall season, you may find a note in the room from the management that they prohibit cleaning "game" in the bathroom (there's a lotta deer in the area, by the way). The Overland Trail Museum adjacent to the hotel is worth the visit during your stay.
#5 - Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa and Lodgings, Ouray
Nestled in Colorado’s Switzerland of America, the Ouray Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa and Lodgings offers both accommodations and a hot springs for your use. The hotel is built over a natural hot springs pool, and guests have access to unique vapor caves.
