Best Lesser-Known Daily Deal Sites

June 13, 2013

Groupon and Living Social have been at the center of the daily deal hoopla for some time now. But did you know that there are countless other daily deal sites that might be better suited to what you’re looking for (or at least more unique)?

I just ran across this site in doing research for this post and I was immediately hooked. They take supporting unique, local businesses to an entirely new level – highlighting everything from products for sale from location-specific crafters to restaurant deals from lesser-known hotspots. The site seems to be geared more towards downloading a free app then receiving daily emails, but that might just be the best way for exploring your city on the go.

If you’re sick and tired of your inbox being overrun by daily deal emails, then this site is your solution. Yes, they will send you emails, but it’s a compilation of deals from all of the top daily deal site deals in your area, so you can count on getting quality content instead of spam. They also highlight what is currently trending (aka selling in significantly high numbers), so you can see firsthand what the best deals are.

SweetJack seems to have a variety of deals for everyone. It offers travel packages, product discounts, and even deals on gift cards. It also has an impressive selection of local deals in every category from restaurants to beauty. This site is owned by radio-giant Cumulus Media, so they also do a "Sweet Deal of the Week," which is announced on specific radio stations all over the United States.

Originally a travel site, TravelZoo has now expanded to include an impressive mix of local deals. The local deals lean primarily towards restaurants, hotels, and local activities – the perfect site for exploring the city around you. Staycation, anyone?

Even though Savored is powered by Groupon, it hasn't gotten nearly as much attention as it's bigger and more popular brother. Instead of printing off coupons, you make a reservation through the site at the restaurant offering the discount (it dictates the dates, times and party sizes eligible for the discount). When it comes time to pay, the discount has already been applied to your bill (discounts range from 10-40% off).

Zulilly touts deeply discounted items for moms and kids (mostly clothing and toys). Reviews state that the deals are impressive and certainly worth a look, although the shipping times vary and can be quite lengthy (a common complaint among many daily deal sites).
